Valve 'beta testing' Dota 2 documentary throughout June

Valve is on the verge of releasing its Dota 2documentary movie, Free To Play, with playtesters being invited to beta screenings from 11 June onwards.
The documentary focuses on professional players competing in The International, the annual Seattle-based Dota 2 tournament that offers teams from around the world the chance to win a huge cash prize in return for using teams of wizards to grind their enemy's base into dust.
This year's International begins on 7 August and has the distinction of offering the largest prize pot in the history of eSports -- initially $1.6 million (£1 million) but growing to $2.28 million (£1.5 million) at the time of writing after offering fans the chance to buy a tournament compendium with part of the proceeds going directly into the prize fund.
The screenings of the movie require invitees to be available to come to Valve's Bellevue headquarters for around two hours and be plied with snacks and drinks, hinting at a feature-length documentary as opposed to last November's 20-minute film, which offered a closer look at the 2012 International competition.
Speaking to Kotaku, Valve's VP of Marketing, Doug Lombardi explained that the viewing sessions were "Beta testing the documentary on The International." He also referenced the earlier movie saying, "The documentary is a different thing, and really looks more at the gamers than one specific tourney."
Given that Dota 2 itself is still technically in beta, the fact that Lombardi is referring to the movie's test screenings as "beta testing" offers precisely zero insight into when Free To Play might actually be released. However it would make sense for the film to come out in conjunction with or slightly ahead of the August tournament.
