Kaspersky Lab reports that Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 received
the highest prize from the independent testing laboratory Dennis
Technology Labs in the Home Anti-Virus Protection comparative test of
security products for home users. The test was conducted in the first
quarter of 2013.
Dennis Technology Labs experts assessed how
effectively solutions function based on two parameters: detecting and
blocking urgent threats, and eliminating false positives where
legitimate software is incorrectly blocked.
'Urgent threats' include
various Internet-based threats which users may encounter in their
everyday computer activities. Dennis Technology Labs does not focus
solely on malware samples; their experts also use web-sites seeded with
malicious code which could infect computers. In order to recreate the
most common computer use scenarios, the tests were run on computers with
widespread Windows XP and Windows 7 operating systems. Some popular
legitimate applications, such as Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Reader,
Oracle Java, etc. were installed, since vulnerabilities in these
programs are often exploited by cybercriminals.
In total, nine
internationally-known products participated in the testing, but only 3
of them were awarded the highest AAA grade. Kaspersky Internet Security
2013 was in that top 3, detecting and blocking 98% of all the threats it
faced and returning just one false positive (against an average of
3.7).
This is not the first time Dennis Technology Labs has praised
Kaspersky Internet Security. In October 2012 the testing laboratory
awarded an AAA grade to the previous version of the product, declaring
it the best solution in its class.
"The test results from the first
quarter of 2013 have again proved the effectiveness of Kaspersky
Internet Security 2013. It's noteworthy that Dennis Technology Labs is
not the only reputable expert organization which regularly acknowledges
the quality of our products. There can be no doubt over the objectivity
of the awards and recognition offered to Kaspersky Lab," said Nikita
Shvetsov, Deputy CTO (Research) at Kaspersky Lab.
Another reputable
expert organization, AV-Comparatives, also praised Kaspersky Internet
Security 2013 in its March "Real-world protection test", under testing
conditions similar to Dennis Technology Labs'. The April AV-Comparatives
test results were almost the same. Moreover, Kaspersky Internet
Security 2013 has also been highly-acclaimed by other well-known testing
laboratories such as AV-Test.org, Matousec.com and others.
